Your choice of subjects should reflect your interests, your academic ability, and any plans you have for the future. We want you to be happy, healthy and successful whilst studying with us and subject choice is a key factor. To help applicants make the right choice, they have a personal interview with an admissions advisor to discuss their options, both at the application stage and at enrolment after the GCSE results have been published.
You need to have at least 5 GCSEs at grade C or above including English. Experience tells us that students wishing to study mathematics; sciences or foreign languages will need to have achieved at least a grade B in these subjects..
Nationally most sixth form students will take 4 AS subjects or equivalent in the first year (Year 12) and then reduce to 3 A2 subjects in the second (Year 13). In addition, all students will be offered the opportunity to sit AS level General Studies.
Students with a grade D in Maths, but with 5 other GCSE qualifications, should not be discouraged to apply for Advanced level courses, as they have the opportunity to re-sit this subject in the sixth form.
