Both Year 12 and Year 13 came together today for a fascinating and very informative presentation by Jane Woodford, titled 'Israel and the Arab World' - a complex and difficult subject which was dealt with sensitively and even handedly by the speaker.

Students responded well to Jane's questions and we had a number of volunteers who were willing to put themselves forward to help with the interactive elements of the presentation.

8-4. Year 13 do it again!

There will be some grumbling that Yr12 were nobbled (half of their selected team had an extra Geography session to attend) but there can be no arguing about the emphatic loss they suffered at the hands (feet?) of a ruthless Yr13 team.

It was bitterly cold but six-a-side keeps everyone pretty busy and you could see the 'steam' rising from the players as they gave their all to the cause. At 4-3 to Yr13 a third of the way through the second half, it was looking pretty close but the superior fitness of the older lads began to show as the Yr12s began to tire and they hammered home their advantage.

It was a good game played in the best spirit and included a few 'comedy' moments too: the triple open-goal miss by a Yr13 player, who shall remain nameless, was pure 'You've Been Framed' gold but unfortunately not captured on video. However, the accompanying photo does give an idea of one of the misses in the sequence.

Important Announcement

13th December 2012
Following on from the success of the Ilkeston 6th Form Partnership over the last...

Following on from the success of the Ilkeston 6th Form Partnership over the last 5 years, we are pleased to announce new developments for Post-16 students living in the Ilkeston area. From September 2013 Ormiston Ilkeston Academy and Kirk Hallam Community Technology and Sports College will be offering separate Post-16 courses in their own sixth forms. This will enable us to continue building on our respective strengths whilst specialising further for the benefit of all students.

We believe that the Ilkeston 6th Form Partnership has provided excellent opportunities and will continue to do so for its existing students but the educational landscape is changing, both locally and nationally, and will look very different within the next couple of years. Our post-16 provision has to adapt if we are to continue providing successful and vibrant opportunities to those students wishing to carry on with their education beyond Year 11 at school. It is our belief that these changes are in the best interests of future students as it allows both institutions greater flexibility to respond to local needs.

There will be the opportunity for current Year 11 students and their parents to attend Launch events for the two new sixth forms but for our current sixth form students we see it very much as ‘business as usual’. The Partnership will remain firm over the next 18 months as we honour our commitments to our current Sixth Formers.

Rest assured that we will not allow operational changes to in any way harm ip6fc students' prospects.
